Meet Your Clinician

Dedicated to the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting, Travis Smith has achieved the highest level of CMSA competition and is a Men’s Level 6, and was the 2024 Missouri State High Point Champion Cowboy. Together with his wife Laura, daughter Katie (2024 Missouri State High Point Cowgirl) and son Zane they work hard to host competitions and clinics with the goal of introducing their passion for the sport of mounted shooting to as many people as they can! Owners of Missouri CMSA and members of the Missouri Big Irons, Travis and Laura start and finish all their own horses for the sport, from weanlings up. They have diligently worked to obtain their level of success and admittedly made nearly every mistake in the book along the way. Which of course means they can help keep you from making the same!

With a natural inclination to pay it forward, the Smith family has developed a horsemanship-based curriculum and clinic format, designed to give others the tools to be successful mounted shooters, whether it's introducing newcomers or helping current competitors achieve the next level. It is evident that this family loves their sport, their positive attitudes are infectious and they'll make you feel welcome, creating a learning environment that will leave you wanting more!
